The XX don't know when they will record new album

The XX, who were awarded with Mercury Prize last week for their debut album XX, revealed that they didn't have plans to start the work on next studio effort soon. According to the band's frontman Oliver Sim, they even don’t know if they ever release new record.

"There is no plan to even put out a second album. There's just a plan to start being creative again, with no big intentions", said he.

He added: "I do enjoy songwriting. I think we're going to do it a second album. I suppose what I mean is, we're going to write and record just for the love of it, even if we didn't do anything with it".

Earlier The XX announced that they would like to spend £20,000 prize money on building their own studio. The band's singer Oliver Sim said: "We made album XX in a converted garage at our record label. We felt very lucky at the time to use it, but I think we’d love to make our own studio, somewhere where we can just experiment".

Mercury Prize is an annual music prize awarded for the best album from the United Kingdom or Ireland. It has a reputation for being awarded to outside chances rather than the favorites. However, it is often observed that bands who are nominated for, or win the prize, experience a large increase in album sales.

The list of this year's nominees also included such artists as Paul Weller, Wild Beasts, Biffy Clyro, Foals and Dizzee Rascal.
