The Verve surprised critics

Despite very mixed and sometimes negative reviews, The Verve’s new album Forth managed to top UK album chart on August 31. It is the band’s first release in more than 10 years.

Second place was taken by Slipknot’s fourth studio album All Hope Is Gone. Michael Jackson's compilation album King Of Pop, released to mark his 50th birthday, reached only fifth spot.

I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry remained on the top of singles chart, followed by Eric Prydz’s Pjanoo.
