The Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform at MTV EMA ceremony

The Red Hot Chili Peppers were announced to perform at the upcoming MTV European Music Awards ceremony. Official statement by the band – that was posted on it website – says: "We haven't played in Belfast in a long time, so we're really looking forward to performing at the 2011 MTV EMAs and seeing all our fans".

The Red Hot Chili Peppers also claimed that they will play several songs from their new album I'm With You.

Upcoming event is set to take place in the capital of Northern Ireland on November 6. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are the only officially announced performers yet.

Lady GaGa has become the main favorite of the upcoming MTV Europe Music Awards 2011 ceremony, being the only artist nominated in six categories. Singer may win Best Video and Best Song for Born This Way, as well as Best Live, Best Pop and Best Female honors.

She will also compete for the recently established Biggest Fans prize – created this year, the honor will be given to the artists with most huge and active fan base.

Coldplay has got three nominations, including Best UK & Ireland Act category. They will also compete with Foo Fighters and The Red Hot Chili Peppers for Best Live Act and Best Rock awards.
