The Red Hot Chili Peppers explained the title of their new album

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' frontman Anthony Kiedis revealed the story behind the title of the band's upcoming studio effort I'm With You. According to his words, they were going to name it after one of the songs from tracklist – but producer of the record Rick Rubin told them not to do this.

"We thought of calling it a song title off the record, and when I mentioned that to Rick Rubin, he said: "That just makes it seem like we don't have enough ideas". We agreed with him", said Anthony Kiedis.

According to his words, all of The Red Hot Chili Peppers' members had different ideas about the title of the record. But it was the band's new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer who suggested the name that has been backed up by them all.

"It seems pretty open, pretty apropos to where the band is, what the band's doing, how the record wants to be related to, or related with. It's open, and there's not really a negative connotation. It's inviting", explained Kiedis.

Earlier The Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea revealed that I'm With You turned out to be a very "dynamic" record. He also claimed that the album would represent a number of different emotional states.

All in all I'm With You will feature 14 tracks. According to Anthony Kiedis, each one of them reflects "the life as it has been experienced" by the band's members during the work on the record.
