Ecologists named The Police «the dirtiest band in the world in the 2007 year». However, the harm comes not from the group itself, but from the mass of fans visiting their gigs. Though The Police is not the only rock band to play huge stadiums, The Police was singled out because of the size and scale of their world tour.

1.5 million fans traveled a long distnce to see them perform at one of more than 100 venues, dealing great damage to the nature – for example, by polluting air with threir cars.

Ironically, the band’s member Sting is one of the music industry's most vocal supporters of green causes.
