The Darkness have recorded "extreme" album

The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins revealed some details about the band's upcoming third album. Musician claimed that new record by British rock band consists of two parts – while first one sounds like AC/DC, the second is real "extreme metal".

"Half of the record is really old school AC/DC guitar rock and some of it's a bit more luxurious and layered, a bit like the first album. But there is also some more extreme metal on it. It's a classic The Darkness album really. We always did take that approach but on the last record we just carried on adding more and more stuff to everything. Nobody stopped us and we just got carried away I think", said singer.

"We've got nine of the required songs done, all finished, all sounding shining and good. We've got about two weeks of recording in January, and bits of it are already going off to be mixed even as we speak, so it's kind of nearly finished now", added he.

The Darkness rose to fame after the release of their debut album Permission To Land (2003) and its follow-up One Way Ticket To Hell… And Back (2005). However, the band went on indefinite hiatus since that time and did not release any new material.
