The Beach Boys to release an album that was recorded 45 years ago

Aug 08, 2011
The Beach Boys announced plans to release an album Smile in the end of October. It is based on the record sessions the band had in 1966 and 1967 – The Beach Boys were going to release the studio effort instantly, but in the end plans were scrapped and it did not come out.

However, recently three living members of The Beach Boys – Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and Mike Love – have rediscovered the records and reworked them so they can be released as an album.

Several tracks originally intended for Smile were already released as an independent singles or b-sides – including Our Prayer, Cabinessence, Cool, Cool Water and Surf's Up.

The Beach Boys formed in 1961 and quickly became famous with such records as Surfin' USA, Surfer Girl, Little Deuce Coupe, Pet Sounds and others.
