Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell revealed that he can not read music despite having a long music career. Singer claimed that he had studied notes when he was young, but has forgotten everything he was taught.

"I learned to read music when I was 10 and did piano and took lessons. I picked it up very fast and I learned to read music very fast, but I don't now at all", claimed he.

Chris Cornell added that it is his teacher who should be blamed for that.

"Unfortunately, I didn't really have any direction. It just felt like school. It was another subject, another course. I had kind of a mean piano teacher", claimed he.

Soundgarden are currently working on their new studio effort. Lead guitarist Kim Thayil revealed that the band would like to make its upcoming album sound different from the previous recordings. Earlier drummer Matt Cameron claimed that the effort would feature reworked versions of several tracks they have written long ago, but never released.

However, Kim Thayil said it did not mean the album would be based on Soundgarden's classic sound. "We want to make sure the material excites us. The last thing we want to make is another grunge or metal record", claimed he.
