Snoop Dogg, Vampire Weekend and a number of other acts performed a special concert in Manchester yesterday, on July 8. The show was free to enter, but it was open only for people who spent their time working as volunteers at the different community projects across the city.

All in all about 3,000 fans came to watch the concert. Vampire Weekend performed both old hits and several songs from this year's album Contra. Snoop Dogg played such tracks as The Next Episode, Gin And Juice, Deep Cover, Sensual Seduction, I Wanna Rock and Drop It Like It's Hot. He closed the show with a cover on Steam's 1969 single Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.

Earlier that day Snoop Dogg and Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand visited one of the community projects. They joined teenagers who were painting walls and played a short football match with them. Later Snoop Dogg appeared onstage wearing Manchester United shirt with Ferdinand's name.

The event was organized by Rockcorps, a company that promotes volunteering in exchange for concert tickets.
