Slayer are working on the new album

Slayer have begun the work on their next studio effort. Short message posted on the Twitter account by drummer Dave Lombardo said: "Slayer are writing a new record".

At the same time, Slayer members refused to reveal further details about the record.

Slayer were set to start the work on the new record this summer, but had to postpone it because of guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who was suffering from the flesh-eating disease.

Slayer released their last to date album World Painted Blood in 2009.
