Robbie Williams wants to be "the world's greatest pop star"

Robbie Williams expressed hope that 2012 will make him "the world's greatest pop star". However, Take That member – who is set to release new album and go on a solo tour next year – did not reveal how he will determine if his aim is achieved.

"It's very important for me to feel like I am competing, more so than ever. I haven't wanted to go out there and be the best in the world since 2005. I am looking forward to going out on tour, doing promo. Someone has to be the best in the world right now and I want to aim for that, and if I don't make it I want to be somewhere near it. This year will be the best year of my life", said he.

Robbie Williams added that upcoming effort will be his first record released by Universal Music. "I'm really thrilled to be joining the Universal family at what I think is the most exciting time in my career", claimed singer.

Robbie Williams himself is currently on a reunion tour with Take That. Their joint album Progress hit the stores in November 2010.
