REM’s song will help to raise money for Haiti
Jan 01, 2010Producer Simon Cowell announced that he has chosen REM’s song Everybody Hurts as a charity single to raise money for the earthquake victims in Haiti. Special version of this track is now set to be recorded by a number of famous artists. The full line-up is yet unknown, but the rumors say that it will feature Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Leona Lewis, Coldplay, Take That and others.
The single is set to hit the stores in January, however, the release date is yet to be confirmed. All proceeds from it will be donated to the Helping Haiti fund.
REM's manager Bertis Downs said: «We are deeply touched the song has been chosen for this Haiti campaign. It means a lot that the song the guys wrote all those years ago will be used for such an important appeal».
Earlier it was announced that U2, Jay-Z and producer Swizz Beatz have recorded a song to benefit the Haiti people.
