NEWS04.08.2009 Red Hot Chili Peppers members announced that they would end their so called «vacation» in October to start the work on the new album. In May 2008 the band’s frontman Anthony Kiedis revealed that the band members have decided to have no involvement in the band for 12 months: «We're disbanded for the moment. We took a very long time to make the Stadium Arcadium record, released in 2006. It followed two other very long hauls, Californication (1999) and By The Way (2002)».
However, according to the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith, the band is «hungry for music» now. «It'll be one and a half year in September, so now we're ready. You can't force people to play when they don't want to play or aren't ready to play or whatever – not in our band, anyway», said he. Smith also claimed that the new album would feature a lot of improvised songs.
