Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album is halfway done

Oct 10, 2010
Red Hot Chili Peppers' drummer Chad Smith revealed that the band was halfway done with its tenth studio album. He claimed that the record would hit the stores on March, adding that he and his bandmates would like fans to hear it "as soon as possible".

"We're probably halfway through the record. I think we've tracked about 20 songs already, and there's a few more left to do. Then we'll whittle them down to make the best record", claimed Chad Smith.

He added: "We always cut a lot of songs and see which ones rise and which ones fall - that's just how we like to work. But the new one won't be a double album like our previous effort Stadium Arcadium, I can tell you that".

Upcoming album will be Red Hot Chili Peppers first record to feature new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. He replaced John Frusciante, who left the band last year.

"We were sad to see John leave the band, but he has to do what he wants and follow his path. Josh Klinghoffer is a real creative force. He's going to play guitar, he's going to write music, he's going to sing and play keyboards", said drummer.

Red Hot Chili Peppers' last to date studio record Stadium Arcadium hit the stores in 2006.
