Primal Scream slammed modern musicians

Dec 12, 2011
Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie criticized modern musicians – especially those performing in rock genre – by calling them "conformists" and blaming for "the lack of ambition". He also urged young people not to express themselves in other way.

"I bumped into Paul Weller the other day and we went for a coffee and we were talking about this lack of ambition which seems prevalent in rock right now. You read interviews with bands and it's all about being rich and famous and being the biggest band in the world. There doesn't seem to be a lot of artists out there anymore. It seems to me that if you were a serious young person and you had something to say that you'd be looking at other disciplines", claimed he.

Singer added: "Rock music is no longer where creativity is and it's no longer taken seriously by creative people. It's been absorbed into the mainstream culture and has become too conformist and normal".

Earlier Bobby Gillespie revealed that next year the band is going to release new album. According to his words, he and his bandmates will start working on it right after the end of their current tour – and hopefully finish the record until March 2012.

"We'll continue working on the new material until the end of October and the winter. Hopefully we'll have a new Primal Scream album out next year", said he.
