Primal Scream has named new bassist

Primal Scream revealed that they have recruited My Bloody Valentine's Debbie Googe as their new bassist. Debbie – who is also known as a member of Showpony and The Bikini Mutants – replaced Gary "Mani" Mountfield, who has left the band to participate in the reunion of The Stone Roses.

Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie pointed that he and his bandmates remain good friends with Mani: "It's a big thing for Mani, because he really doesn't want it to look like he's pissed off from Primal Scream to join The Stone Roses, because he's not at all. It's a really cool thing".

Debbie Googe has joined My Bloody Valentine in 1985 and participated in the recording of both of their albums – Isn't Anything (1988) and Loveless (1991).
