Portishead will begin recording new album this summer

Portishead plan to start the recording of their new studio album this summer. The band's Geoff Barrow revealed that he was going to start writing new songs in the nearest future to "get another record done" as soon as possible.

"I'm writing for Portishead through July and August. I just want to bang on and get another record done", said he, adding that Portishead has recently signed a contract with a big record label. However, he did not reveal its name: "It's with a major. It's with the biggest record company in the world. It's with people we trust, which with a band is the most important thing".

Geoff Barrow also expressed hope that upcoming record would get better reception in Great Britain than Portishead's previous album Third. "We did the Third record, it did incredibly well. We got very little support from the UK as we don't represent a certain demographic of people, but we did Coachella festival and that was amazing", said he.

Upcoming record will become Portishead's fourth studio album. Dummy and Portishead were released before the band's split up in 1999, while Third hit the stores after Portishead's reunion in April 2008.
