PJ Harvey said wining Mercury Music Prize was "overwhelming"
Sep 09, 2011"It's sinking in but it's taking a while. It's amazing to win for a second time, but also being there for the first time, to collect it was overwhelming. The amount of good spirit I felt in the room and support was wonderful", said PJ Harvey.
She added: "I didn't think I would win because I'd won before. I thought it would be unlikely but I was just happy to be there. I was just happy that such a difficult and serious record would be getting that exposure".
PJ Harvey has won Barclaycard Mercury Prize for her last to date album Let England Shake. She has beaten such opponents as Adele (with 21), Tinie Tempah (with Disc-Overy), Elbow (with Build A Rocket Boys!) and others.
PJ Harvey said: "First of all I'd like to say thank you very much for this award, and the recognition of my work on this album. It took me a long time write. It was very important to me, I wanted to make something that was meaningful not just for myself but for other people, hopefully to make something that would last".
