Pet Shop Boys were surprised by Internet

Pet Shop Boys’ Chris Lowe confirmed rumors that he and his bandmate Neil Tennant have written a song for British singer Shirley Bassey. At the same time, Lowe claimed he was surprised that rumors about this collaboration have already emerged online.

«How do you know this? My goodness the Internet's bloody good isn’t it?! I didn’t think anyone knew about that. Well… we’ve written a song for Shirley Bassey which we’ve heard she likes so… I’m amazed that’s on the Internet!» said he.

Lowe also confirmed that Pet Shop Boys’ upcoming album, titled Yes, was recorded together with former The Smiths’s guitarist Johnny Marr and Arcade Fire’s Owen Pallett. The album will hit the stores this month, with the first single Love Etc. scheduled to be released next week.

Lowe also admitted that he was glad to receive an Outstanding Contribution award for Pet Shop Boys at this year’s Brit Awards ceremony.
