O2 Arena became the most popular concert venue of the 2009

Jan 01, 2010
O2 Arena in London remained the most visited concert venue in 2009 for a second year in a row, according to the Pollstar. During the last year, about 2.349.252 tickets to the arena were sold. In 2008, when O2 Arena was also on the first place, its result was 30% lower – about 1.806.447 tickets.

This year’s numbers could be much bigger if Michael Jackson’s proposed series of concerts took place at the arena. However, it still featured gigs by Madonna, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Muse, Green Day, AC/DC and a lot of other world-famous artists.

O2 Arena, with a capacity of up to 23,000 visitors, was opened in 24 June 2007. The confined concert featured Tom Jones, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and Basement Jaxx.

The second place in the chart of the world’s most popular music venues belongs to MEN Arena in Manchester (about 1.3 million tickets).
