My Chemical Romance drew inspiration from Judas Priest’s music

My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way revealed some details about the songs already recorded for the band’s fourth studio album. According to his words, the band drew inspiration from Judas Priest, as well as from Blade Runner movie and old sport cars.

«The fact there's a song now tentatively titled Trans Am is a bold thing for this band to do as opposed to our previous material. But to bring something like old '70s muscle car culture into the music», said he.

He continued: «The song Death Before Disco actually reminded me in an odd way of all the best stuff of '80s what is called hard rock, but not all of it was. Judas Priest is considered metal, but it's great rock'n'roll. It's having nothing to do with that era of metal, but then having everything to do with like the birth of power-anthem metal. After Trans Am that started to really bleed into the record».

Singer also claimed that he watched Blade Runner a lot during the work on the new album.

Earlier Gerard Way said that the record was influenced by such artists as Iggy Pop and MC5.

Yet-untitled record will be released next year. Previous album by My Chemical Romance, titled The Black Parade, hit the stores in 2006.
