Music critics praised Merriweather Post Pavilion as the best album of the year

HMV Group revealed its annual «poll of poll» for music industry. This list of the best albums of 2009 is based on another 34 end of the year polls among music critics held by the magazines, TV channels and websites.

According to HMV’s reports, the first place was won by Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion. The second position belongs to It's Blitz by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, while The xx band with the eponymous record became third.

Surprisingly, the chart features no best-selling albums. The fourth place was taken by Dirty Projectors with Bitte Orca, the fifth – by Grizzly Bear with Veckatimest.
