Michael Jackson’s tribute concert was canceled

Dec 12, 2009
An upcoming concert devoted to the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death was canceled. The gig was set to take place at Wembley Stadium in London next June, but its organizer, World Awards Media company, has gone bankrupt this week.

However, Michael Jackson’s brother Jermaine, co-organizer of the show, claimed that there was a possibility to reschedule it with another promoter.

Canceled event was set to feature performances by Mary J. Blige, Akon, Chris Brown, Natalie Cole and Sister Sledge. Originally it was set to take place in Vienna on September 26. But organizers, they canceled the event due to several problems – mainly because some performers, announced to take part in the concert, have allegedly dropped out.

London will host another two Michael Jackson’s tribute shows in 2010. Originally, gigs were planned to be held this August at the O2 Arena – the same place where Michael Jackson was going to perform his comeback concerts. But both gigs were postponed because organizers failed to finalize the line-up for the shows.
