Michael Jackson’s portrait sold for $1 million

Famous portrait of Michael Jackson, painted by Andy Warhol in 1984, was sold yesterday at the auction that took place in New York. According to the reports, an anonymous bidder has bought the picture for over a $1 million.

Andy Warhol is an American painter, considered to be a leading figure in the pop art visual movement. He has painted a lot of portraits of famous people, including The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger, Liza Minnelli, The Beatles’ John Lennon, Diana Ross and Brigitte Bardot.

Warhol has created Michael Jackson’s portrait under the impression of his famous album Thriller.

Two days ago it was announced that the date of Michael Jackson’s burial ceremony was changed. Originally, late singer was set to be buried on his birthday on August 29, but recently funeral date was moved to September 3. It was not announced why the date has changed.
