Michael Jackson’s new single was written 20 years ago

US singer Paul Anka revealed that Michael Jackson’s recently released single This Is It was actually composed more than 20 years ago. According to Anka, he has written this song together with Michael Jackson for his duets album, which did not hit the stores. The song was also recorded and released in 1990 by the singer Sa-Fire under the title I Never Heard.

Originally Michael Jackson's estate claimed that the song This Is It was written specially for the singer’s series of gigs in London. It was credited to late singer himself and his brothers from the Jackson 5. However, after Paul Anka threatened legal action, Jackson's estate confirmed that the song was actually written two decades ago.

The official statement says: «The song was picked because the lyrics were appropriate because of the name Michael gave his tour».

This Is It precedes the release of the eponymous compilation album. The song is also included in the documentary movie, also titled This Is It. The film, telling about last days in Michael Jackson’s life. It will include several videos that were created to be broadcasted during Michael Jackson’s concerts in London. One of these movies is an alternative version of Thriller presented in 3D format.
