Michael Jackson has won four American Music Awards
Nov 11, 2009Michael Jackson was honored four times at the American Music Awards ceremony which took place last night, November 22, in Los Angeles. The late singer received awards as the Best Artist in pop/rock and soul/R&B categories, while his 2003’ greatest hits compilation Number Ones was named Best Album in the same genres.
However, Jackson’s achievement was beaten by Taylor Swift, who has acquired five trophies. She was awarded as Best Female Artist in three categories, while her record Fearless was voted Best Album in country genre. She also received main award of the ceremony – Artist Of The Year.
The list of winners also features Black Eyed Peas (Best Pop/Rock Band), Jay-Z (Best Hip-Hop Artist and Best Hip-Hop Album for The Blueprint 3), Green Day (Best Alternative Rock Act) and others.
The ceremony included collaboration between Eminem and 50 Cent as well as by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. It also featured performances by Green Day, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Shakira, Rihanna and others.
