Metallica do not mind bad reception of The View

Metallica members claimed that the negative reception of their new song The View does not make them feel bad. The track – which is the first single from the album Lulu, recorded by the band together with Lou Reed – was released last week and met critical response from fans.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said that it does not matter because they like it themselves. "We have m-e-t-a-l in our name. But we can go fucking anywhere and do anything".

Guitarist Kirk Hammett agreed with him: "Lou and us – we're kindred souls. We both have a clear vision of what you should sound like and say. Also, he has an edge that totally fits. He speaks our language, slightly sarcastic and blunt".

Lulu consists of the covers on the songs Reed has written for the musical Lulu, which is based on the plays by German writer Frank Wedekind.

Speaking about the album, Lou Reed said: "It maybe the best thing done by anyone, ever. It could create another planetary system. I'm not joking, and I'm not being egotistical".
