The date when Lil Wayne will start prison term was announced. Famous rapper will go in jail on February 9 to stay a year-long stint for illegal gun possession. Lil Wayne is set to be imprisoned just a week after his long-awaited album Rebirth will hit the stores.

Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was arrested in July 2007, when police found a .40 caliber semi-automatic loaded handgun in his car. Rapper claimed he was not guilty, but during the hearing in October, he confessed that this gun belonged to him. Now rapper may face one year in jail.

Rebirth is set to become Lil Wayne’s first ever rock-album. According to Wayne’s friend, hip hop star Drake, Wayne was inspired to change direction by Kanye West who prefered singing to rapping on his latest album 808s And Heartbreak.

Upcoming record will feature duo with Eminem on the track Drop The World, as well as collaborations with Blink-182, Lenny Kravitiz and Fall Out Boy.

Another long-awaited album by Lil Wayne – Tha Carter IV – was postponed until 2010.
