Kasabian explained why they decided to name their new album, released this week, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum and why this title includes the name of old Yorkshire madhouse.

The band’s guitarist Sergio Pizzorno said: «The album isn't about the place, I just first heard about it on a TV documentary, and the words just struck me. I love the way it looked and the feeling it evokes. Apparently, it was one of the first loony bins for the poor, before that it was mainly rich people who got treatment».

He also spoke about the artwork for the album – it shows band’s members dressed in a strange costumes. For example, singer Tom Meighan is wearing 19th Century French military jacket, while Serge Pizzorno sports a full-length reverend's robe.

«The album cover comes from thinking about the words really. It's us getting dressed up for a party at the asylum, looking in the mirror at the costumes», said he.
