Jimi Hendrix’s praised as a composer of the greatest guitar riff of all time
Nov 11, 2009Song Voodoo Child (Slight Return) by Jimi Hendrix's was voted for the track with the greatest guitar riff of all time during a special poll by famous British magazine Music Radar. The track was recorded in 1968 by Hendrix and his band Experience for their third and final album Electric Ladyland.
The second place with the small gap from first position was taken by Guns N' Roses' Sweet Child O' Mine. The Top-5 also features Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water and Derek And The Dominos' Layla. They are followed by AC/DC, Metallica, Nirvana, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Speaking about the results of the voting, Music Radar editor Mike Goldsmith said: «Our poll seems to indicate one thing - in 2009 classic rock still rules».
