Jane's Addiction singes Perry Farrell revealed some details about the band's upcoming studio effort. Titled The Great Escape Artist, it is set to hit the stores in September. According to Farrell, he and his bandmates tried to distance themselves from their previous records while working on it.

"I love being able to escape my past, even though my past was great. I just love the future even more", said he.

At the same time, Perry Farrell claimed that The Great Escape Artist has turned out to be a mix of the band's classic sound and the modern music.

"It's a strange mixture of that post-punk goth darkness that Jane's Addiction had, with what's going on today with groups like Muse and Radiohead. As much as I want to appease fans and make old Jane's Addiction fans love me, I just can't help myself from moving forward", claimed Perry Farrell.

Upcoming record will become fourth studio album by Jane's Addiction. Previous one, named Strays, hit the stores in 2003. It was followed by split-up in 2004, but the band reunited in 2008.

There are rumors that Nine Inch Nails' frontman Trent Reznor took part in the recording of upcoming album.
