Jack White and Patti Smith re-recorded U2 songs
Sep 09, 2011An album of covers on U2 songs is set to hit the stores in November. It was recorded by the group of musicians, which features ex-The White Stripes singer Jack White, Patti Smith, Damien Rice and Depeche Mode full line-up.
They have re-recorded U2 1991's classic album Achtung Baby – the release itself is set to mark 20th anniversary of the effort.
Talking about the record, U2 frontman Bono said: "It's strange, because when I hear the album, when U2 do it, all I hear is what's wrong with it. But when I heard all these artists doing it, I thought: "It's really good". I liked it".
Achtung Baby has become U2 seventh studio album and saw the band's move towards a combination of alternative rock and electronic dance music. The record has turned out to be very successful, becoming eight times Platinum in USA only.
