Jack White and Patti Smith re-recorded U2 songs

An album of covers on U2 songs is set to hit the stores in November. It was recorded by the group of musicians, which features ex-The White Stripes singer Jack White, Patti Smith, Damien Rice and Depeche Mode full line-up.

They have re-recorded U2 1991's classic album Achtung Baby – the release itself is set to mark 20th anniversary of the effort.

Talking about the record, U2 frontman Bono said: "It's strange, because when I hear the album, when U2 do it, all I hear is what's wrong with it. But when I heard all these artists doing it, I thought: "It's really good". I liked it".

Achtung Baby has become U2 seventh studio album and saw the band's move towards a combination of alternative rock and electronic dance music. The record has turned out to be very successful, becoming eight times Platinum in USA only.
