Iggy Pop slammed record labels
May 05, 2012Iggy Pop slammed modern record labels saying that they can not think about anything but money. Famous rocker said he was very dissatisfied after EMI has rejected his new album Apres – however, he did not feel surprised.
Apres consists of his covers on the songs by other artists, including Frank Sinatra's Only The Lonely, Fab Four's Michelle, The Beatles' I'm Going Away Smiling and others. The record also features several French compositions reworked by Iggy Pop – such as La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf and La Javanaise by Serge Gainsbourg.
"They would have preferred that I do a rock album with popular punks. I was not going to do that! They didn't want Apres. They didn't think they would make any money, they didn't think my fans would like it", said he.
Iggy Pop released his last album Preliminaires in 2009.
