Iggy Pop is singing in French
Apr 04, 2012Iggy Pop revealed some details concerning his upcoming album Apres that is set to hit the stores next month. The record consists of his covers on the songs by other artists, including Frank Sinatra's Only The Lonely, Fab Four's Michelle, The Beatles' I'm Going Away Smiling and others.
Apres also features several French compositions reworked by Iggy Pop – such as La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf and La Javanaise by Serge Gainsbourg.
"I wanted to sing some of these songs myself, hoping to bring the feeling I felt as a listener to my listeners through my voice. Many of these songs are in French, probably because it is French culture which has most stubbornly resisted the mortal attacks of the Anglo-American music machine", revealed he.
Iggy Pop released his last album Preliminaires in 2009.
