Susan Boyle's debut album I Dreamed A Dream became the best-selling record of the year in the UK. The disk by The Britain's Got Talent star was sold 1.4 million copies in Britain, although it was released only on November 23. Lady Gaga's The Fame, which reached the second place, hit the stores 49 weeks ago.

The Top-5 of the top-selling albums of the year in Britain also features Kings Of Leon’s Only By The Night (65 weeks on sale), Michael Buble’s Crazy Love (9 weeks on sale) and The Black Eyed Peas’ The END (28 weeks on sale).

Martin Talbot, managing director of The Official Charts Company, said: «In just four weeks, Susan Boyle has become the biggest album artist in the UK – an extraordinary achievement for an artist who was totally unknown until last April».

Susan Boyle came to international public attention this spring after performing song I Dreamed A Dream at the Britain's Got Talent TV show. Although not a professional singer, she quickly became known for her powerful voice.

Her first studio effort I Dreamed A Dream was named the best-selling debut album of all time by a female singer in USA. I Dreamed A Dream also became the best-selling debut album in the UK.
