Green Day songs will be made into musical

Green Day revealed that their last album American Idiot would be turned into a musical. Production will begin in California in September, but, according to the band’s frontman Billie Joe, it «can reach Broadway». «When people see it, it’s going to be my wildest dream», said he.

The play will be staged by Michael Mayer, the director of hit musical Spring Awakening, which recently opened in London.

American Idiot hit the stores in 2004 and was sold 13 million copies worldwide. Green Day new album 21st Century Breakdown is scheduled to be released in March. In 2007 they recorded disk Stop Drop And Roll!!! under the name Foxboro Hot Tubs.
