Green Day have begun the work on their new album

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong revealed that the band has started the work on its next studio effort. He also pointed that unlike the band's two previous releases – American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown – this one will not be a concept album, and described the record as "raw and straightforward".

"Officially started recording the new record today. It's Party Time", wrote Armstrong in his account on Twitter.

It is unknown if Green Day's last single Carpe Diem – released last autumn – will be included in the album.
