Green Day and Slash paid tribute to Adam Yauch

Green Day and Slash joined the list of artists who have paid their respects to late Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch. Rapper has passed away yesterday, on May 4. The reason of his death has not been revealed yet, but it is known that Adam was battling with cancer of the preaortic gland since 2009.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong – a good friend of Yauch – wrote on his Twitter account: "He was full of wisdom & encouragement for a freaked out kid like I was. Thank you".

A message on Slash's account says: "Sad day. Adam was awesome. RIP man. We'll miss you very much".

The list of artists who paid tribute to Beastie Boys' man also includes Justin Timberlake, Weezer, Blink-182, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink-182 and others.

Beastie Boys – with whom Adam Yauch worked since the band's formation in 1981 – are considered to be defining acts in hip-hop music.
