Gorillaz future is uncertain

Apr 04, 2012
Blur frontman Damon Albarn claimed it is unlikely that Gorillaz will release new music – at least, in the nearest future. According to his words, he would like to continue with the project, but another creator of the cartoon band, artist Jamie Hewlett, has another opinion.

Asked if he thinks that Gorillaz must retire, Damon Albarn said: "Jamie does, which is fair enough. I think we were at cross purposes somewhat on that last record, which is a shame. So until a time comes when that knot has been untied".

Recently Damon Albarn claimed that Blur's upcoming concert in Hyde Park – that will take place in August – may become their last gig. According to the singer, he has not yet discussed it with his mates, but he likes this idea.

"And I hope that's the truth: that that's how we end it. I don't know: you can write scripts, and they always end up going…well, one thing I've learned is that everything I think I've got totally sorted out, and I know exactly what's going to happen, never works out that way", said Damon Albarn.

Set to take place on August 12, the show is set to mark the end of 2012's Olympic Games. Damon Albarn claimed that since announcement he considers Blur "to be closing the Olympics".
