Gorillaz creator wants to record solo album

Blur frontman and Gorillaz creator Damon Albarn have plans to record solo album, reports British press. According to The Sun, Albarn is going to start the work next year. Singer is sure his record will be very successful.

A source close to Damon Albarn told newspaper: "Damon's finally ready to make a solo album after years of hiding behind cartoon band Gorillaz and working with collectives of musicians. He's looking forward to it and his label bosses at EMI are pleased as it's sure to sell by the bucketload".

Last month Damon Albarn performed in Doctor Dee opera that has been written by himself. The play was telling about English scientist and alchemist John Dee, who lived in 16th century and was consultant to Queen Elizabeth I. According to Damon Albarn, he was interested in creating the story about him because John Dee is connected to Great Britain.

"I've got a really strange emotional connection - it really gets to me, that haunted, magical England. It's something that really stirs me in an irrational way", claimed Damon Albarn.
