Glastonbury Festival founder recived an award from the Queen
Nov 11, 2007Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis was rewarded with the Commander of the British Empire title by the Queen Elizabeth II. After ceremony Michael revealed the Queen asked him if lots of visitors damage his farm (the festival is held on the land that belongs to Eavis). «I said it's a very lovely farm and it is looking splendid now. She said, «Good»».
Eavis firstly organaized the festival in 1970, hoping to pay off his mortgage with the proceeds. It was attended by 1,500 people. This year's Glastonbury Festival had about 170,000 visitors, and it’s headliners were The Who, The Killers, Iggie Pop, Bjork and Chemical Brothers.
Eavis did not say who will sing on the next festival, but he disproved statements about U2 and Muse involment.
