First ever The Beatles recording to be auctioned

Apr 04, 2011
The first recording in the career of The Beatles is set to be auctioned this week on Thursday, April 14. It will go on sale along with the first publishing contract signed by the band.

Experts predict that the lots will fetch Ј50,000 each.

The contract features sings by Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison, as well as by Pete Best – The Beatles' original drummer who was later replaced by Ringo Starr. This document was compiled in Hamburg in June 1961. It was discovered earlier this year by Switzerland scientists.

A representative for the auctioneers said in his official statement: "The most important thing about this contract is that we didn't know it existed. It's gold dust".
