Elvis is the richest celebrity of the year

Elvis Presley was number one in a list of richest dead celebrities of the year, published by journal Forbes on its site. He earned (or rather would have earned) an estimated $49 million in the past 12 months.

This number generates from millions from music royalties, DVDs, licensing deals and tourism at Graceland, the rocker's mansion in Memphis. John Lennon ranks second with earnings of $44 million, followed by comics’ creator Charles M. Schulz ($35 million).
