David Lynch will release a compilation of his own songs
Jun 06, 2009Famous movie director David Lynch will release an album titled Fox Bat Strategy: A Tribute To Dave Jaurequi. It will feature seven songs, written by Lynch himself in 1994. All of them were performed by British musician Dave Jaurequi, a good friend of Lynch, who passed away in 2006.
«Dave Jaurequi was not a singer. He was a guitarist, a fantastic one, but I asked him to sing and speak these lyrics of mine, because I had a hunch that proved correct. He had great phrasing, and I love the grain of his voice. I think about him a lot, and wish we'd been able to record more than the seven songs that are on this album», said Lynch.
This year David Lynch was involved in a multi-media project Dark Night Of The Soul. It was set to feature music by Danger Mouse and vocals by such artists as The Strokes' Julian Casablancas, Iggy Pop and Frank Black. It was also supposed to be released with a book featuring photographs by David Lynch. But it was not released due to legal dispute with Danger Mouse’s record labael EMI.
