Dave Grohl described Foo Fighters' new album as heaviest in his career

Dave Grohl revealed his impressions of Foo Fighters' upcoming studio album Wasting Light. Former Nirvana drummer claimed that it has become the heaviest record he has ever done. "I like loads of crazy-ass, dissonant, distorted rock n' roll", said he.

At the same time, Dave Grohl revealed that he has drawn inspiration from ABBA while working on the record.

"But I also love bands whose pop choruses get bigger and bigger. I love anthemic choruses, that overwhelming feeling of release that you can connect with. So whenever I thought I had a big enough chorus for a song, I would use that as the pre-chorus and then I would try and write something even bigger, like ABBA did", claimed he.

According to Dave Grohl, the band kept live concerts in mind while working on the record. Even its tracklist is arranged as a setlist for the show.

Foo Fighters' previous studio effort, named Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, hit the stores in 2007.
