Cover of Jane's Addiction's album banned on Facebook

Facebook has banned the cover of Jane's Addiction's 1988's studio effort Nothing's Shocking. The image – showing two fully naked women – has been posted in the album of the band's official group with the comment: "In 1988, nine of the 11 leading record chains refused to carry Nothing's Shocking because of its cover".

Several hours later it was deleted by the Facebook administration. According to the official statement, the artwork was violating one of the Terms of Use paragraphs.

Earlier this year Facebook administration has banned the cover of Nirvana's classic album Nevermind. The image, which shows naked baby swimming underwater, has been uploaded to the official Nirvana page as a part of the promotion of Nevermind's 20th anniversary reissue. However, it was removed several hours later.

According to the official statement, the decision was based on a rule that says: "Facebook does not allow photos that attack an individual or group, or that contain nudity, drug use, violence or other violations of the Terms of Use".
