Concert buisness grossed record profit

Dec 12, 2008
Analysts say that musicians earned about $4 billion worldwide through their concerts in 2008. It is the biggest number for a year ever and up almost 13% over last year. In North America, musicians earned about 18% more than in 2007.

Bon Jovi's tour was the highest-grossing of all, with about $210.6 million profit. Next in line are Bruce Springsteen’s tour in support of his album Magic ($204.5 million) and Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour, devoted to her Hard Candy album ($162 million).

2009 may set new record: tickets sales for Britney Spears' 2009 tour were good enough to add a number of extra dates, while AC/DC and Metallica have already sold out shows for January and February.
