Coldplay singer to donate his guitar for an auction

Feb 02, 2012
Coldplay's singer Chris Martin claimed he would sell one of his music instruments through the auction. According to the singer, it will be his first guitar. It was used to write many of Coldplay's early songs. Chris Martin also played it during the recording of the band's first album Parachutes.

The guitar, signed by Martin himself, is a part of a huge charity auction organized by singer and his bandmates. Named End Of Decade Clearout Sale, it allows fans to buy a lot of memorabilia connected with Coldplay – for example, clothes that the band's members were wearing during their last tour.

All proceeds from the action will go to Kids Company, organization which engages in charity work with young ex-offenders and disadvantaged children.

Coldplay's fifth studio effort Mylo Xyloto has become the biggest selling rock album of 2011 in UK. According to the report by The Official Charts Company – international agency that supervises music industry – it has clocked over 900,000 copies although it was released only in October.

The biggest selling rock single of the year also belongs to Coldplay – their track Paradise was bought 410,000 times.
