Chris Cornell defended his recent album
Mar 03, 2009Chris Cornell tried to explain the poor critical reception of his recent album Scream, produced by Timbaland. The record was slammed by Cornell’s fans and some other musicians – for example, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, who said that Cornell «embarrassed himself».
Cornell said: «Older American fans don't like it because they are typically my core fans that really supported me in Soundgarden and really loved that band. To them that's kind of who I am, I'm that guy in that band, and I'm that guy who wrote those songs».
Ex-Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman also compared his new record with Pink Floyd's album The Wall. «Timbaland can do anything. People thought it was going to be Timbaland beats with a bunch of fuzzy rock guitars and me singing over it. I don't think they expected us to go so far into the direction we have», said singer.
