Bristol was named British «most musical city»


Bristol was named British «most musical city»Bristol was voted «most musical city» in the Great Britain during a special survey by the Performing Rights Society (PRS). According to the PRS, they polled citizens of the each British city with the average number of respondents relative to the population size. All in all, 65,000 people took part in the survey.

They have given the first place to Bristol, which is the hometown of Portishead, Massive Attack and trip-hop artist Tricky. London was put on 26 position, despite giving to UK the most number of musicians – for example, Blur and The Rolling Stones. Liverpool, the birthplace of The Beatles, became 18.

Cardiff became second, followed by small town Wakefield, the birthplace of The Cribs.

Speaking about the results, Ellis Rich, chairman of PRS, said: «Bristol has been a long-standing contributor to the British music scene, constantly injecting its unique pizazz of trip-hop and rock bands».
